A response to the brief put out by the Storefront for Art and Architecture: what if we took buildings down?

This proposal includes infrastructure as part of society’s ongoing act of “building”, pulling the architect into conversation with the likes of the Monkey Wrench Gang decades prior.

Glen Canyon Dam becomes the target. With the removal of one single building, a massive new national park would be created, a submerged indigenous history could re-emerge and local ecosystems could begin to hydrologically regulate themselves once again.

The vast landscape currently lost underneath the Glen Canyon reservoir would once again be accessible.

And the massive construction of Glen Canyon could remain: an artifact of generational ideology and reminder to the future.
